Discount Calculator — Complete Guide

This discount calculator is the fastest way to answer: “How much will I save?” and “What will I finally pay?” Enter any two of: original price, discount %, discount amount, final price — get the other two instantly, with steps, in your currency.

What is a Discount?

A discount is a reduction from the listed price. The most common are percent off (e.g., 20% off $59.99) and fixed amount off (e.g., $10 off $59.99). Stores use discounts to clear stock; shoppers use this calculator to verify the savings.

Formulas (All Solve Instantly)

  • Discount Amount ( % off ): Amount = Original × (Discount % ÷ 100) — e.g., $59.99 × 15% = $9.00
  • Final Price: Final = Original − Amount — e.g., $59.99 − $9.00 = $50.99
  • Discount % (from prices): % = (Amount ÷ Original) × 100 — e.g., ($9 ÷ $59.99)×100 = 15%
  • Original (from Final + %): Original = Final ÷ (1 − %/100) — e.g., $50.99 ÷ 0.85 = $59.99
  • Fixed off: Final = Original − Fixed — e.g., $95 − $20 = $75

Percent Off vs Fixed Amount Off

Use Percent off for “20% off” sales. Use Fixed amount off for coupons like “$10 off $50”. Our toggle handles both — calculator.net requires a reload, Omni only does percent. Switch and keep your numbers.

Multiple Discounts (Stacked)

Two discounts are sequential, not additive: 20% off $100 -> $80, then 15% off $80 -> $68 (not 35% off). Use the calculator twice, or enter final $68 with original $100 to see total 32% off.

Tax: Before or After Discount?

India/U.S. stores apply GST/sales tax after discount. Enable Include Tax above, enter 18% GST and see payable total. Example: $100 − 20% = $80 + 18% GST = $94.40.

Bulk / Quantity

Buying 3 × $49.99 at 15% off? Set Quantity 3 -> Total save $22.50, Total pay $127.47. Great for wholesale.

Quick Examples

  • 10% off $45: 10% of $45 = $4.50 -> Final $40.50 (90% of $45)
  • $20 off $95: $95 − $20 = $75 (21.05% off)
  • $100 -> $75: ($25 ÷ $100)×100 = 25% off

Frequently Asked Questions

Multiply original by discount %: $59.99 × 0.15 = $9.00 saved, Final = $59.99 − $9.00 = $50.99. Or 85% of $59.99.
Discount % = ((Original − Final) ÷ Original) × 100. Example: ($59.99 − $50.99) ÷ $59.99 ×100 = 15%.
Percent off is % of price (15% off $100 = $15). Fixed off is flat amount ($10 off $100 = $90). Use the toggle above to switch.
Apply sequentially: $100 −20% = $80, then $80 −15% = $68 (total 32% off, not 35%). Use calculator twice.
Most stores tax after discount. Enable Tax, enter GST/sales tax %, see total payable. Check local rules.
Original = Final ÷ (1 − %/100). Example: Final $80 after 20% off -> $80 ÷ 0.8 = $100.
